Tax Manager

A large, financially stable healthcare organization is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to lead and oversee a broad range of corporate tax functions across a complex, multi-entity environment. The Tax Manager will serve as a key member of the finance team, partnering with leadership to ensure compliance, support organizational strategy, and manage tax-related matters across federal, state, and local jurisdictions. This position offers visibility across the enterprise and the opportunity to influence decision-making on significant financial and regulatory matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the preparation and filing of all required tax reports and returns.
- Manage tax compliance activities across federal, state, and local tax areas, including income, sales and use, property, business, and other applicable taxes.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on tax regulations, legislative developments, and reporting requirements.
- Monitor regulatory changes and recommend strategies to ensure ongoing compliance and operational effectiveness.
- Oversee tax audits and reviews, coordinating documentation, responses, schedules, and implementation of recommendations.
- Review work prepared by tax staff and provide coaching, guidance, and professional development.
- Support departmental planning, process improvements, innovation initiatives, and strategic projects.
- Research and resolve complex tax issues while providing recommendations to leadership.
- Partner with finance and operational leaders on organizational structure changes, acquisitions, and other business initiatives with tax implications.
- Assist in departmental management, workforce planning, staff development, and performance evaluation activities.
QualificationsRequired
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
- CPA designation or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or Business preferred. Candidates with significant directly related experience may also be considered.
- Eight (8)+ years of progressive tax, accounting, or finance experience.
- Strong knowledge of corporate taxation, tax compliance, regulatory reporting, and tax research.
- Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to mentor and develop team members.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with senior leadership and external stakeholders.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities, including experience managing large volumes of financial data.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
