Position Overview: As a Geo-technician, you will work on-site for one of our valued clients, playing a critical role in handling drill core and RC samples. This position requires precision, physical stamina, and a strong commitment to safety while performing tasks that support geological analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Support surface and underground drilling programs in coordination with the Geology team to meet exploration objectives
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and MSHA/site requirements to maintain a safe work environment for self and others
- Process diamond core and RC samples, including receiving, labeling, photographing, measuring, marking, sampling, and handling materials
- Cut and split core using a core saw and prepare samples for bagging, tagging, and shipment to assay laboratories
- Prepare, organize, and submit samples to external laboratories in accordance with established protocols
- Maintain accurate sample records and ensure data integrity through proper documentation and tracking
- Implement and adhere to QA/QC procedures, including standards, blanks, and duplicates
- Transport and pick up RC samples from drill rigs and deliver materials to the core facility
- Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient core shed and work area
- Operate equipment and vehicles safely, including forklifts, in accordance with training and certification
- Perform material handling tasks, including lifting, carrying, and moving core boxes and sample materials weighing up to 50 pounds
- Work on uneven terrain and stand for extended periods in indoor and outdoor environments
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support exploration operations
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required
- 1–2 years of core cutting, sampling, or related exploration/mining experience preferred
- Experience working in a mining or mineral exploration environment preferred
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs over uneven terrain.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience reading maps, using GPS, and driving off-road preferred.
- Background in geology or related sciences preferred but not required.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Surface MSHA Metal/Non-Metal certification required.
