An international food packaging machinery manufacturer is searching for a Mechanical Service Engineer based out of Elk Grove Village, IL to provide technical support to manufacturing customers. The ideal candidate will be strongly mechanically inclined, customer-oriented, and will be able to travel to provide field service support between 50 - 75% of the time.
This is an hourly, full-time and direct hire position with a full benefits package, and requires up to 75% nationwide travel, Monday through Friday. Occasional international travel (to Canada, Mexico, and Japan) may also be required.
Mechanical Service Engineer Responsibilities:
- Travel to customer locations to install new machine tools, identify any mechanical problems with industrial machinery and perform on-site repairs as needed (including turret realignment, bearing and ball screw replacement, and hydraulic and pneumatic system troubleshooting)
- Offer troubleshooting and technical support via phone for customers of food packaging equipment
- Read mechanical drawings and blueprints to resolve issues and complete repairs
- Document and report any issues
- Cross-train on mechanical, electrical and electronic maintenance
- Provide top customer service and training to clients/customers
Mechanical Service Engineer Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering field, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Mechanical service, machine troubleshooting, or production maintenance experience within a manufacturing plant is preferred. Entry or junior-level candidates with internship experience are encouraged to apply!
- Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills, including strong problem-solving skills and ability to learn
- Able to travel nationwide throughout the U.S., Canada, and Mexico up to 75% of the time for projects, including some overnights, Monday - Friday
- Strong communication skills and customer service orientation
- This position includes manufacturing and warehousing work environment. While performing the duties of this job you may be required to intermittently sit, stand, walk, lift up to 25 pounds, lift in excess of 25 pounds with a lift assist, climb stairs, use hands to handle or feel parts/equipment, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend at the waist, talk and hear. You may also be required to use close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision.
Compensation and benefits:
- Starting pay between $27 - 36 per hour, dependent on level of prior experience
