Fire Protection Technician — Alarm, Sprinkler, Suppression & Extinguisher
Cache Valley Fire Protection LLC — Logan, UT (open to candidates willing to relocate) Full-Time | $25.00 – $45.00 per hour, depending on experience and certifications
About the Role
Cache Valley Fire Protection is hiring experienced and self-motivated Fire Protection Technicians across all four divisions: fire alarm techs, fire sprinkler fitters/technicians, fire suppression techs, and fire extinguisher techs.
We're looking for individuals ready to work independently, with minimal supervision, who can contribute immediately to our fire protection operations in the field. If you can run inspections on your own and hold certifications, you'll start at the top of our pay range.
We serve commercial and industrial clients across Cache Valley, the Salt Lake City corridor, and parts of Idaho. Inspection contracts, service work, and new installs keep our schedule full year-round.
Why Join Us?
Most fire protection shops run on chaos. We run on systems — digital inspection tools instead of paper forms, documented processes, and a written pay structure instead of guessing what a raise takes.
Our pay is simple and transparent:
- Base starts at $25/hour
- +$3/hour for every qualifying certification you hold or earn
- Experienced, multi-certified techs land in the $40–$45 range
- We pay for training and certification costs — your credentials raise your rate, so we invest in them
Key Responsibilities
- Install, inspect, test, maintain, and repair fire protection systems — sprinklers, alarms, suppression systems (Ansul, Amerex, and similar), and extinguishers
- Perform NFPA-compliant inspections (NFPA 10, 17, 17A, 25, 72) and document results in our digital inspection platform
- Work independently and efficiently across multiple job sites
- Read and interpret blueprints and system layouts
- Troubleshoot and repair deficiencies, including low-voltage systems and electrical components
- Communicate clearly with clients and the team to ensure compliance and safety standards are met
- Represent the company professionally on every job
Requirements
- Valid driver's license and ability to pass a background check
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of related fire protection experience (required) — techs who can inspect independently strongly preferred
- Reliability: Self-motivated and disciplined — able to work independently without supervision
- Professionalism: If you can get along with others and treat people the way you'd like to be treated, you'll be rewarded well
- Physical stamina: Able to lift and move 50 lbs on a regular basis
- Excellent customer relations skills
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Mechanically inclined
- Works well with coworkers
Strong candidates also have:
- Current Utah certifications (alarm, sprinkler, suppression, or extinguisher) — or willingness to obtain state licensing, which we'll help you get
- NICET certification
- Backflow certification
- Low-voltage electrical experience
- Idaho licensing or willingness to obtain
- Experience with sprinkler system fittings or fire alarm sales
Summary
As a Fire Protection Technician specializing in Alarm, Sprinkler, Extinguisher, and Suppression systems, you'll be responsible for installing, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing a wide range of fire safety equipment. You'll use your mechanical skills and technical expertise to ensure projects meet compliance standards. Your ability to work independently in the field, read blueprints, and navigate low-voltage systems will be crucial. You'll play a key role in keeping our clients protected and our team running efficiently — with a clear advancement path from tech to senior tech to foreman.
