Job Summary
The Project Manager – Strategic Sourcing will be responsible for leading multiple, concurrent sourcing and procurement initiatives across (e.g., fuel, MRO, safety/PPE, and contracted services), with full responsibility for project scope, schedule, savings, and stakeholder outcomes.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Lead end-to-end strategic sourcing projects across assigned categories, managing scope, timeline, budget, and stakeholder expectations from initiation through closure.

Develop and execute category sourcing strategies; conduct spend analysis, market research, and total-cost-of-ownership evaluations to identify savings and value-creation opportunities.

Manage the competitive bid process (RFI/RFP/RFQ), including drafting requirements, evaluating supplier proposals, leading negotiations, and recommending awards.

Draft, negotiate, and administer supplier contracts — identifying upcoming obligations, developing dispute-resolution options, monitoring compliance, and assisting in final contract closure.

Track, forecast, and report project savings, cost avoidance, budgets, variances, and corrective actions; accurately forecast cost-to-complete on assigned initiatives.

Build and maintain supplier relationships; oversee supplier qualification, performance, risk mitigation, and continuous-improvement initiatives.

Partner with cross-functional stakeholders (operations, finance, legal, safety, and regional leadership) to align sourcing initiatives with business objectives.

Proactively identify risks, monitor project status, recognize negative trends and project variances, and coordinate corrective action.

Project Management certification by a recognized organization such as the Project Management Institute (PMP) is a plus.

Professional sourcing or supply chain certification (e.g., CPSM, CPM) is a plus.

Previous experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, category management, or supply chain will be considered.

Strong skill set around negotiation, contract management, spend and cost analysis, budgeting, scheduling, reporting, and writing.

Familiarity with electric utility, fleet, and vegetation-management equipment, services, and processes a plus.

Experience with e-sourcing/procurement or ERP platforms (e.g., SAP Ariba, Coupa, Oracle) a plus.

Customer and stakeholder interface experience.

Strong written, oral, presentation, and organizational skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Office products (advanced Excel preferred).

8+ years of relevant experience, including project management (tracking, savings/budget responsibility), strategic sourcing or procurement, detailed contract management, and cross-functional project leadership.

B.S. in Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field required.

Periodic travel to Asplundh offices, supplier sites, and operating regions as required to support sourcing initiatives and supplier reviews.
