Summary:
The Chicago Tribune is seeking an Electrician to join our team! The Electrician will safely ensure all production equipment operates at optimum levels through proactive use of electrical skills. Perform preventive maintenance at proper intervals; quickly diagnose breakdowns to allow maximum production time. Educate other associates on safe and proper operation of the equipment while observing company policies and applicable laws.
This position has a schedule of 7pm–3:30am with Friday/Saturday off.
What you will do:
Perform industrial electrical and electronic repair on all production and related equipment to a high standard of quality
Handle preventive maintenance on all production equipment at proper intervals
Carry out electrical repairs in accordance with National Electrical Code guidelines
Determine and make recommendations in the case of failures as to the continued safe operation of electrical systems and/or equipment
Read, understand and use complex industrial electrical and electronic schematics, blueprints and equipment manuals
Communicate in English both written & verbally with all necessary parties on equipment statuses (record keeping through use of computer and/or logbooks)
Work on special projects (equipment upgrades, relocations) as directed/assigned
Continue to develop knowledge in order to stay abreast of emerging technology
Communicate with management on parts requests and ensure the stocking of parts
What you will bring:
2+ years of electrical experience in a production/manufacturing environment preferred but an apprentice will be considered
Ability to read/write and understand electrical schematics
Understand AC/DC theory and electromechanical devices (Pneumatic/Sensor Controls)
Basic understanding of PC-controlled interfaces (Fiber optic/Communication Networks)
Troubleshoot PLC Logic and Analog Relay logic (Solid-state electronics) and AC/DC Digital Control Motor Drives
Perform System Diagnostics and Calibrating procedures
Ability to properly use tools to perform duties (Meters, scopes, hand tools, etc.)
Benefits and Compensation:
The hourly range is $27.00 - $36.00.
