Duties
- Prepare patients for surgery by conducting thorough assessments, verifying medical histories, and ensuring adherence to aseptic techniques.
- Monitor patient vital signs, and respond promptly to any changes in patient condition.
- Administer medications and IV infusions with precision, following all safety protocols and HIPAA regulations.
- Document all aspects of patient care accurately in patient health records including medical documentation, medication administration, and procedural notes.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams for discharge planning, post-operative care instructions, and long-term follow-up when necessary.
- Maintain a sterile environment by adhering to infection control standards and sterilization procedures throughout all perioperative activities.
Requirements
- Valid nursing license with current registration; prior experience as a perioperative nurse is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, aseptic technique, and critical care practices including airway management and acute pain management.
- Excellent patient assessment skills combined with compassionate communication tailored to diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, or individuals with disabilities.
- Certifications such as Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) are required. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) is desired.
- Must be able to pass drug screening and background check.
