Through our federal litigation practice (LIFT), the Civil Litigation Attorney will support both large-scale impact litigation and individual federal cases that directly shape the outcomes of our clients’ lives. On the group litigation side, you will help advance cases that challenge unlawful policies and systemic delays affecting a multitude of immigrants from a number of different countries. You will also work closely on individual federal actions including mandamus complaints, requests for injunctive and declaratory relief, and other challenges to agency delay or wrongful action. This work can directly contribute to compelling government accountability and timely adjudications. This is hands-on litigation work where your attention to detail and ability to manage fast-moving federal filings will have a direct impact on real people seeking solutions to their immigration concerns and stability in the United States.
The ideal candidate thrives under pressure, experienced with federal court rules, and can pivot quickly when an emergency filing arises.
The Civil Litigation Attorney will perform the following duties:
- Handle all phases of immigration-related litigation, including case evaluation, pleadings, discovery, motion practice, hearings, and trial preparation. Practice areas include Appeals to the Circuit Court, Mandamus Actions, APA (Administrative Procedure Act) Challenges, Habeas Corpus Petitions, and Declaratory Judgment Actions.
- Develop effective litigation strategies and communicate clearly with clients, co-counsel, and stakeholders.
- Independently manage a litigation caseload and meet court deadlines including multi-plaintiff lawsuits in various jurisdictions.
- Collaborate effectively with co-counsels, internal support teams, clients, and plaintiffs to coordinate case preparation, gather documents, ensure overall case organization, and provide case updates to plaintiffs through Zoom meetings.
Qualifications:
- U.S. JD or LLM required
- Must be admitted and in good standing in at least one U.S. state bar and eligible/admitted to practice before at least one U.S. Federal District Court or U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals
- At least 7 years' experience in federal civil litigation
- Skilled at navigating the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and Local Court Rules
- Excellent coordination and communication skills
- Dedication to exceptional client service
- Demonstrated attention to detail
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with competing demands
- Ability to contribute to a positive work environment
- Prior team management experience strongly preferred

The salary range for this role considers many factors in making compensation decisions including but not limited to the individual’s skills, U.S. experience, qualifications, work location, licensure and certifications, and applicable laws.
