Overview
Join our dynamic healthcare team as a PRN Occupational Therapist, where you will play a vital role in enhancing patient independence and quality of life through personalized therapy services. The Occupational Therapist is responsible for evaluating and treating clients in the home setting to promote independence, safety, and improved functional ability. The Occupational Therapist will assess the client’s ability to perform basic activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs), provide home safety evaluations, reinforce weight-bearing and range-of-motion restrictions, and develop individualized treatment plans to support recovery, mobility, endurance, and overall quality of life.
Duties
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations to determine patients’ functional abilities and develop tailored care plans.
- Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including dressing, grooming, feeding, and mobility exercises.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate discharge planning and ensure seamless transitions across care settings.
- Provide therapy services to individuals with diverse needs such as autism spectrum disorder, geriatrics, disabilities, or post-acute conditions.
- Implement therapeutic interventions in various environments including inpatient units, outpatient clinics, schools, and home health visits.
- Educate patients and caregivers on adaptive techniques, safety measures, and activity modifications to promote independence.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient progress, treatment plans, and case management records in compliance with regulatory standards.
Qualifications
- Valid occupational therapy license or certification in the state of Virginia.
- Experience working with individuals with autism, disabilities, geriatrics, pediatrics, or in acute care settings such as ICU or inpatient units.
- Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and speech therapy principles relevant to occupational therapy.
- Demonstrated ability to assist with ADLs and participate in discharge planning processes.
- Prior experience in skilled nursing facilities, post-acute care environments, outpatient clinics, or school-based programs is preferred.
- Strong case management skills with the ability to develop effective care plans tailored to individual needs.
