Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and skilled HVAC Technician to join our dynamic team! In this energetic role, you will be responsible for performing skilled mechanical maintenance duties in the inspection, repair, installation, and alteration of District heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems and related equipment and facilities; performing preventive maintenance and routine servicing of equipment.
Duties
- Install, service, and repair HVAC equipment including air conditioning units, boilers, refrigeration systems, and building automation systems.
- Read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and blueprints to diagnose issues accurately.
- Perform electrical diagnostics using tools such as ohmmeters to troubleshoot electrical components and wiring.
- Conduct routine maintenance on mechanical systems to ensure peak performance and energy efficiency.
- Repair plumbing and mechanical systems associated with HVAC units while adhering to safety standards and EPA regulations for refrigerants.
- Diagnose complex issues involving ammonia refrigeration or other specialized cooling systems.
- Weld or perform equipment repairs as needed; operate tools such as welding equipment or other mechanical repair tools.
- Maintain detailed service records, complete work orders promptly, and communicate effectively with clients about system status and recommendations.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards including EPA certifications for refrigerant handling and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Assist with property maintenance tasks related to HVAC/R systems to support overall building operations.
Qualifications
- Proven construction experience combined with service technician background in HVAC/R systems.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience repairing mechanical systems such as boilers, pumps, or fans.
- Familiarity with schematics, wiring diagrams, building automation systems, and HVAC design principles.
- Experience working with electrical diagnostics tools like ohmmeters; capable of troubleshooting electrical issues efficiently.
- Knowledge of refrigeration principles including ammonia refrigeration systems; ability to perform equipment repairs safely and effectively.
- EPA certification for refrigerant handling is required; additional certifications related to HVAC or plumbing are a plus.
- Mechanical skills including welding or pipefitting are advantageous; experience with appliance repair or property maintenance is beneficial.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; ability to operate a <PERSON> driver vehicle if applicable.
- Ability to work independently in field service environments while maintaining high safety standards.
