Overview
Under the direction of the Economic Development Director, the Records Support Technician 1 performs routine, repetitive clerical work involving the processing and filing of records or other key entry device used by the agency and does other related tasks as required:
- Receives applications, documents, forms, and fees; screens, sorts, and assembles this information for further processing. Maintains records and files.
- Provides aid to the public by providing information to constituents concerning requirements and standards relating to the Borough Building and Construction Codes.
- Opens, time stamps, sorts, numbers and distribute mail. Calculates routine fees, collects fees and penalties from constituents.
- Learns the steps involved in the review and processing of documents, forms, and other materials in accordance with established rules, regulations, and/or Borough guidelines.
- Enters and/or retrieves information on a computer.
- Will be required to learn how to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the Borough.
Qualifications and Requirements
Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks. Good communication skills, both written and verbal. Proficiency in basic computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite). Applicant will be required to possess a driver’s license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of office routines, procedures, policies, guidelines, and equipment used to check, sort, index, store, and file records after a period of training.
- Ability to organize work and develop effective work methods.
- Ability to work effectively with associates, superior officials, and members of the public concerned with the work of the unit. Ability to: edit, proofread, and perform spelling or grammar checks to ensure typographical accuracy; assemble material for distribution; organize assigned clerical work and develop effective work method.
