Step into a dynamic education environment supporting students at both the high school and elementary levels. This contract position offers the unique opportunity to split your day between two impactful roles: mornings as a high school Special Education Teacher, and afternoons as a Behavior Intervention Specialist supporting elementary educators. Work onsite and collaborate closely with school staff to develop effective interventions that foster student growth.
Desired Qualifications:
- Current Minnesota teaching license required (Tier 3 or Tier 4 for Special Education).
- Experience in special education and/or as a behavior specialist preferred.
- Proficiency in developing, implementing, and monitoring behavior plans.
- Strong collaboration skills to coach and consult with teachers.
- Up-to-date resume reflecting relevant experience and credentials.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach high school students in a 0.5 FTE special education capacity each morning.
- Serve as a Behavior Intervention Specialist in the afternoons, supporting elementary teams with behavior strategies (no direct caseload).
- Consult with teachers to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized behavior intervention plans.
- Work between two school “crews” (high school and elementary), offering expertise and practical support.
- Maintain regular communication with multidisciplinary teams to ensure student success.
- Uphold compliance with district and state requirements for special education services.
This contract begins in late August and wraps up in June, with a schedule that allows for a dedicated focus Monday through Friday, approximately 37.5 hours per week. The split role provides both variety and the chance to make a meaningful difference across grade levels.
