Duties
- Assist lead teachers in implementing lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, including literacy, math, and social-emotional learning.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with disabilities, including those with autism spectrum disorders and behavioral challenges.
- Support classroom management by encouraging positive behavior and implementing behavior management strategies tailored to individual student needs.
- Help facilitate communication using American Sign Language (ASL) or other augmentative communication methods when necessary.
- Assist with physical support and childcare tasks, such as helping children with mobility or daily routines, ensuring their safety and comfort.
- Collaborate with other professionals—such as speech therapists, special educators, and counselors—to develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs).
- Support classroom organization, including lesson setup, materials preparation, and maintaining a clean learning environment.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working with children in educational or childcare settings, especially in special education or early childhood environments.
- Knowledge of childhood development principles, classroom management techniques, and behavior support strategies for students with disabilities.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorders is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with Deaf education and American Sign Language (ASL) is a plus.
- Strong communication skills—both written and verbal—and the ability to collaborate effectively with educators, parents, and specialists.
- Ability to handle confidential information discreetly while maintaining professionalism at all times.
- Basic math skills and experience supporting literacy education are preferred.
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering inclusive learning environments aligned with the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).
- Childcare or preschool experience, including Montessori or preschool methodologies, is advantageous.

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
