Position Summary
We are a new health café and wellness center seeking a creative and hands-on Head Pastry Chef to lead our pastry program while supporting overall café operations.
This role is primarily food and kitchen-focused, ideal for someone who is passionate about baking, clean ingredient cooking, and menu development, while also comfortable overseeing the broader café environment.
We are seed oil–free, use no artificial flavors, and work exclusively with organic ceremonial ingredients. Our mission is to provide clean, nutritious, and beautifully crafted food and beverages while encouraging people to eat well, live longer, and truly flourish.
You will lead all food production and menu creation, ensuring every offering reflects our commitment to quality, simplicity, and wellness.
Key ResponsibilitiesKitchen & Pastry Leadership (Primary Focus)
- Develop and execute seasonal pastry and café menus using organic, whole food ingredients
- Create pastries, breads, and desserts without refined sugar, seed oils, or artificial additives
- Design and prepare clean, simple savory dishes (bowls, toasts, breakfast and lunch offerings)
- Oversee all daily kitchen production, prep, and workflow
- Maintain consistency, freshness, and high presentation standards
- Lead recipe development, testing, and standardization
- Source ingredients and pricing
Team Leadership & Training
- Hire, train, and mentor kitchen and café staff
- Set clear expectations for food quality, prep standards, and cleanliness
- Lead daily prep and production planning
- Support front-of-house team alignment with menu knowledge and service flow
- Foster a positive, accountable, and wellness-aligned team culture
Operations & Inventory
- Manage kitchen inventory, ordering, and par levels
- Track product usage and minimize waste
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen
- Ensure proper food storage, labeling, and compliance with health regulations
- Coordinate equipment maintenance as needed
- Possibly pick up ingredients
Café Support (Secondary)
- Support beverage program standards and consistency
- Assist with barista training and workflow as needed
- Step into service during peak times when necessary
- Uphold overall café experience and hospitality standards
Customer Experience
- Ensure food presentation and quality enhance the overall guest experience
- Contribute creative ideas for seasonal specials and community offerings
- Maintain a welcoming, thoughtful environment aligned with brand values
Administrative Oversight
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards
- Support scheduling efficiency and labor awareness
- Communicate operational needs and improvements to ownership
Qualifications
- 3+ years experience as a pastry chef, café chef, or similar kitchen leadership role
- Strong background in baking and pastry production
- Experience with organic, whole food, and allergen-friendly ingredients
- Proficiency in alternative baking (natural sweeteners)
- Ability to develop menus and standardize recipes
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities
- Passion for sustainability, wellness, and local sourcing
- Basic coffee knowledge or willingness to learn (latte art a plus, not required)
- ServSafe or Hawai‘i food handler certification preferred
- Able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs

Pay: $28.00 - $32.00 per hour
