CareRev now has shifts available for Inpatient Pre-Operative Registered Nurses (RN) on a per diem basis, providing exceptional pre-operative care to patients scheduled for surgery in a fast-paced hospital environment. Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive pre-operative assessments including vital signs, medical history, and physical examinations to evaluate patient readiness for surgery.
- Prepare patients by explaining procedures, answering questions, and ensuring informed consent is obtained.
- Administer medications and injections as prescribed, including IV infusions and botulinum toxin treatments when applicable.
- Maintain strict aseptic technique during patient interactions and procedural preparations to prevent infections.
- Collaborate with surgical teams, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care plans.
- Document all patient assessments, interventions, and education accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and overall condition prior to surgery, providing immediate intervention if necessary.
Qualifications
- Current RN license and be in good standing with the State Board of Nursing.
- Current AHA BLS certification. ACLS required.
- Minimum of 1 year experience as a Pre Op RN (most recent experience within the last year). PACU experience required.
- Strong ability to assess, plan, coordinate, evaluate and delegate the delivery of skilled patient care, as well as demonstrate critical thinking, and consistency in following established processes.
- Strong assessment and IV skills are required.
- Strong familiarity with surgical, procedural, and anesthesia consent forms, preoperative medications, and universal precautions.
- Competent with surgical site infection prevention measures, postoperative pain management, and discharge education.
Pay: $52.01 - $57.00 per hour
