Daycare Teacher Job Description
Position Title: Daycare Teacher
Program: Camp Shalom / Mizel Jewish Community Day School (CSJCC)
Age Group: 18 months and up. Schedule: Monday – Friday, 110:00 AM – 5:45 PM
Job Summary
The Daycare Teacher at CSJCC will provide a nurturing, safe, and developmentally appropriate environment for children aged 18 months and up. The teacher will implement engaging activities that support the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development of each child while fostering a love of learning and a connection to Jewish culture and values.
Responsibilities
Child Development & Care
- Plan and implement age-appropriate activities and lessons aligned with developmental milestones.
- Monitor and assess the growth and development of each child, adapting teaching methods as needed.
- Provide a warm, nurturing, and inclusive environment where children feel valued and secure.
- Supervise children to ensure a safe environment at all times.
Classroom Management
- Organize and maintain a clean, stimulating, and inviting classroom environment.
- Foster positive relationships with children to encourage cooperation, self-regulation, and social skills.
- Establish clear routines and expectations that support children’s independence and confidence.
Collaboration & Communication
- Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers, providing updates on their child’s progress and addressing any concerns.
- Work collaboratively with other staff, including assistants and directors, to ensure a cohesive and supportive program.
- Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
Jewish Culture & Values
- Integrate Jewish holidays, traditions, and values into daily activities and lessons, fostering a sense of cultural identity.
- Encourage respect for diversity and inclusion while celebrating Jewish traditions and customs.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience working with young children in a licensed childcare or educational setting.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR (or willingness to obtain).
- Knowledge of Jewish culture and traditions is a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Physical ability to engage with children, including lifting, bending, and sitting on the floor.
Schedule & Compensation
- Hours: Monday – Friday, 10:00 am – 5:45 PM
