Job Summary
Abercrombie Radiology is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Radiology Scheduling and Pre-Authorization Coordinator to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will coordinate imaging appointments, manage insurance pre-authorizations, and ensure seamless communication between patients, providers, and insurance companies. Your proactive approach will help optimize workflow efficiency, reduce delays, and enhance patient satisfaction.
Duties
- Schedule radiology procedures accurately by coordinating with physicians and patients to confirm appointment times and necessary preparations
- Obtain insurance pre-authorizations by verifying coverage details, submitting required documentation, and following up on approval statuses to prevent delays in patient care
- Review and interpret medical records, including medical terminology, CPT codes, ICD 10 codes, to ensure proper coding for billing and authorization purposes
- Verify insurance benefits and eligibility through managed care systems to confirm coverage for radiology services
- Collaborate with medical office staff to ensure all documentation is complete and accurate prior to procedures
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing patient inquiries regarding appointments or authorization status promptly and professionally
Requirements
- Prior experience in a medical office setting with a focus on radiology or imaging services
- Knowledge of managed care processes, insurance verification procedures, and medical billing practices
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to safeguard patient privacy and confidentiality
- Proficiency in medical terminology, medical coding, and medical records management
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with office software applications such as electronic health records (EHR) systems and scheduling platforms
- Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with patients, providers, and insurance companies.
