Overview
Join our dedicated team as a Part Time Direct Service Advocate and make a meaningful difference in the lives of survivors. In this role, you will provide compassionate support, crisis intervention, and advocacy services to vulnerable populations, ensuring their safety, well-being, and access to essential resources. Your proactive approach and strong communication skills will help foster safe environments and promote positive outcomes for those in need.
Responsibilities
- Respond to clients in crisis. Identify problems, explore options, and support clients in making their own decisions.
- Offer emotional support, assistance, advocacy, referral information, and follow-up as needed.
- Facilitation and development of support groups.
- Document all direct service activities. Record client statistical data, including referrals if any, and maintain related agency documentation.
- Advocate with clients in the courts, police stations, hospitals, and other agencies, as determined by the client involved. Provide limited transportation to clients.
- Collaborate with other staff to enhance direct service delivery as assigned.
- Develop and maintain contacts with other human service providers in the Greater Manchester Area.
- Collaborate with colleagues to gather diverse perspectives and improve direct service outcomes through shared feedback
Requirements
- Prior experience working with children, families, or individuals.
- Strong communication skills and a commitment to addressing issues such as domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, Human trafficking, and child abuse are necessary.
- The ability to intervene in crisis situations while maintaining client confidentiality is critical.
- Strong communication and writing skills for accurate reporting and client interaction.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working with culturally diverse communities and understanding of family dynamics within different cultural contexts.
- Valid Driver's License and automobile insurance.
