Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care and administrative support within our medical facility. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, patient service, and the ability to work efficiently in both outpatient and inpatient settings.
Duties
- Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures, ensuring comfort and safety.
- Perform intake procedures, including obtaining vital signs and medical histories.
- Administer medications as directed by the physician and monitor patients for adverse reactions.
- Maintain accurate patient records using EHR systems, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations.
- Conduct basic life support measures when necessary and assist in emergency situations.
- Support various departments including dermatology, urgent care, internal medicine, and hospital medicine.
- Prepare patients for X-rays or other diagnostic tests as required.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and physicians to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Engage in coding procedures such as ICD coding for billing purposes.
- Provide administrative support including scheduling appointments and managing patient flow.
Skills
- Proficient knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Experience in hospital settings, particularly in Level I or Level II trauma centers.
- Familiarity with outpatient clinic operations and urgent care environments.
- Strong patient service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
- Basic life support certification is required; advanced certifications are a plus (e.g., PICU or OR experience).
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
- Knowledge of medication administration protocols and vital sign assessment techniques.
