FIRST Robotics Instructor/Coach (Part-Time)

Compensation: $23+/hour (negotiable based on experience)
Jubilate Education, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing STEM education opportunities to students in our local South Bay, is seeking an experienced and passionate FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) Robotics Coach to mentor and guide our G7-11 FTC team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor students in designing, building, and programming a competitive FTC robot throughout upcoming season
- Teach engineering and programming principles, including mechanical design, CAD & assemblies, introductory laser-cutting, electronic wiring, & material analysis
- Foster an inclusive, innovative, and supportive team environment
- Guide students through the engineering design process, competition strategy, decision-making strategies, & iterative development
- Manage competitive team dynamics & ensure the team adheres to FIRST Core Values and Gracious Professionalism
- Assist students in preparing for competitions, including documentation, presentations, and teamwork
- Coordinate and supervise after-school meetings and competition events
- Develop season timelines & manage actionable deadlines with leadership & mentors
Qualifications:
- Experience in FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) or any FIRST programs (FRC, FLL) as a coach, mentor, or participant is highly desired
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or a related field.
- Prior experience teaching, mentoring, or working with middle and high school students preferred
- Strong knowledge of robotics, mechanical design, and CAD assemblies (e.g., Fusion 360, SolidWorks)
- Ability to motivate and inspire students while maintaining a structured & engaging learning environment
- Excellent problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills
Job Details:
- Part-time position (6-12 hours/week) coaching the FTC team & foundational courses during after-school sessions &/or Saturdays mornings
- Competitive hourly pay, starting at $23/hour based on experience & educational background (negotiable based on experience).
