TITLE: Mortgage Loan Officer

REPORTS TO: Mortgage Lending Manager

Position Summary
The Mortgage Loan Officer will act as a liaison between applicants and the financial institution, helping qualified applicants obtain mortgage loans and setting up payment plans. The MLO will meet with applicants, prepare loan proposals, and examine active loans. This individual must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Essential Functions

Meet with loan applicants to identify their needs and collect information for loan applications.

Analyze active loan files on a regular basis and recommend solutions to speed up the loan process.

Recommend appropriate loan type for the member’s situation, income and needs.

Complete loan contracts and teach clients on policies and regulations.

Interview applicants to define financial eligibility and establish debt payment plans.

Monitor and update account records.

Submit loan applications in a timely manner.

Prepare detailed loan proposals.

Reject loan applications and explain deficiencies to applicants.

Respond to applicants' questions and resolve any loan-related issues.

Required Education and Experience

A minimum of 3 years’ work experience in lending.
Preferred Education and Experience
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Finance.

Two years or more mortgage origination experience

Knowledge of the credit union and competitor's products and services, pricing, delivery mechanisms, and marketing approaches.
Physical Requirements
While this position is primarily sedentary, while performing the essential duties of the position the employee may be required to stand, sit, walk, stoop, kneel, talk, see and hear. The nature of this position requires physical mobility and the ability to occasionally lift and/or move a maximum of 50 pounds with assistance. This position may include prolonged periods of time working on a computer and looking at a monitor screen.
Position Requirements

Core operating hours of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday - Friday, or as needed based on member application needs. May require occasional travel, sometimes overnight, as well as after-hours functions.

Requirement to be bonded. Successful background check including personal credit report and criminal record.
