The Staff Accountant position is responsible for assisting in the accounting operations of the company. This includes maintaining accurate financial records, preparing journal entries, processing payroll, and supporting the month-end close cycle. This position reports to the Assistant Controller.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist in monthly closing process for the group including closing checklist, recording journal entries, support schedules and account analysis.
- Record treasury related transactions including the reconciliation of bank accounts.
- Assist with weekly Accounts Payable payment processing.
- Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll accurately and on schedule.
- Review employee time records for completeness and accuracy prior to payroll processing.
- Verify payroll changes including new hires, terminations, pay rate adjustments, bonuses, and deductions.
- Reconcile employee benefit deductions including health insurance, dental, vision, 401(k), HSA, and other voluntary deductions.
- Coordinate payroll-related benefit changes with Human Resources and third-party providers.
- Monitor employee garnishments, child support orders, and other required withholdings.
- Assist with the activities of the accounts receivable function to ensure the accurate and timely management of all accounts receivable aging components including billings and cash receipts application.
- Support sales tax compliance to ensure the accurate and timely completion of all state sales tax returns.
- Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports.
- Maintain systems and controls that verify the integrity of all systems, processes and data, and enhance the company's value.
- Communicate with co-workers, management, clients, and others in a courteous and professional manner.
- Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills:
· Must be detail-oriented and possess strong organizational skills
· Strong computer skills and use of Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Excel, Word)
· Experience using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) or similar type of software
· 1-3 years of accounting experience in a manufacturing industry preferred
· Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting
