Strategic Results is seeking a Publications Specialist Level 2 to support the Federal Highway Administration's (FHWA) Office of Research, Development, and Technology (RD&T) in the production, preparation, and delivery of technical publications and communications materials. The Publications Specialist Level 2 will work closely with Government staff and the communications team to prepare documents for publication, coordinate production activities, maintain publication files, and support the distribution of print and electronic products.
The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented publications professional with strong organizational skills who enjoys working in a collaborative production environment and ensuring publications are accurate, complete, and ready for distribution.
Key Responsibilities
· Prepare technical reports, brochures, newsletters, fact sheets, manuals, and other communications products for publication.
· Format and assemble publication files for print and electronic distribution.
· Review documents for completeness and ensure all required components are included prior to production.
· Coordinate with writers, editors, graphic designers, and publication coordinators throughout the production process.
· Maintain publication files, production records, and document archives.
· Track publication status and assist with production schedules.
· Support preparation of print-ready and electronic publication packages.
· Assist with publication reviews by incorporating approved revisions and preparing updated versions of documents.
· Coordinate with printing and production personnel, as assigned, to support publication delivery.
· Maintain publication inventories and distribution records, as assigned.
· Assist with organizing and maintaining digital libraries of publications and supporting materials.
· Support quality assurance reviews to ensure publications are complete and ready for release.
· Participate in project meetings and provide updates on assigned publication activities.
· Perform other publication support duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
· Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Journalism, Publishing, Business Administration, or a related field, and 7+ years of experience.
· Demonstrated experience supporting document production, publication coordination, or communications activities.
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Experience managing multiple assignments and meeting production deadlines.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred:
· Experience supporting Federal Government publication or communications programs.
· Experience supporting technical, scientific, engineering, or research publications.
· Familiarity with print and electronic publication processes.
· Experience maintaining document libraries, publication records, or production tracking systems.
· Knowledge of document formatting and publication quality assurance processes.
· Familiarity with Section 508 accessibility considerations for published materials.
