Teacher of Students with Disabilities for Pathways Program
New Road Schools of New Jersey provide comprehensive educational programs for students in grades K–12, as well as Pathways Programs for young adults ages 18–21. Our schools are committed to fostering the social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development of every student through individualized, supportive, and engaging educational experiences.
Pathways Program Teacher:
Our Pathways Program serves young adults ages 18–21 and is designed to prepare students for life after graduation through community-based instruction, work-based learning experiences, and the development of essential life and employment skills.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver a program of instruction to each child, giving due consideration to the abilities and disabilities of the child, the IEP from the public school district and the philosophy of The New Road School and the state core curriculum standards.
- Provide complete and appropriate supervision of all students assigned.
- Maintain appropriate and professional communication with parents of assigned students.
- Participate in all professional development regarding academic instruction and behavior management.
- Provide training, supervision and direction to any teacher-aide assigned.
- Participate in staffings, conferences and meetings relating to any student assigned.
- Develop and maintain daily lesson plans.
- Develop and implement effective behavior management programs for students in conjunction with support center staff.
- Develop, write and evaluate a Progress Report for each student based on the sending school district’s IEP.
- Develop and implement a Professional Development Plan.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Principal.
Requirements
- BA or BS from accredited college or university
- New Jersey Teacher of Students with Disabilities Certification
- New Jersey Criminal Review Clearance
Experience:
- Teaching: 1 year (Preferred)
- Working With Students With Disabilities: 1 year (Preferred)
- Experience working with a BCBA and supervising behavior plans.
