LMC Part-Time Business Administrator Position
Luther Memorial Church (LMC) is a small to medium sized church located in River Falls, Wisconsin and is seeking a part-time salaried Business Administrator to manage the financial and operational functions of LMC. This position is estimated to take between 18 to 24 hours per week and reports to the Pastor with “dotted-line” responsibility to the Church Treasurer. The Business Administrator also works with the Board of Directors in areas of Human Resources and Facilities on a routine basis. The business administrator candidate must be fluent in church accounting practices, payroll and HR compliance, and vendor relationships. The responsibilities and qualifications are given below.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for church finances including accounts payable and receivable, and financial reporting, account reconciliations
- Provides assistance in budget development
- Manage payroll and benefits administration for all church staff
- Ensure compliance with nonprofit tax law, employment regulations, and reporting requirements
- Manage vendor contracts, insurance policies, and facility maintenance relationships
- Prepare financial reports for the Treasurer, Pastor and Board of Directors
- Coordinate the annual budget process in partnership with the Treasurer
- Continually looking for better and more cost-effective ways to run LMC
- Manage Dedicated Accounts according to fund accounting restrictions
- Develop and maintain administrative systems and policies
- Maintain compliant record retention and file system
- Support the staff managing phone calls and walk-in visitors at the church
Basic Qualifications
- Knowledge and experience in general ledger, journal entries, and basic accounting principles
- Understanding and experience of nonprofit tax compliance and employment law
- Strong organizational and systems-thinking ability
- Integrity and discretion in handling confidential financial and personnel information
- Works well with others, both co-workers and congregational members
- Supports the mission of Luther Memorial Church
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree or applicable experience in accounting, business administration, finance, or a related field
- Experience in nonprofit or church financial management
- Knowledge of GAAP, fund accounting, church accounting software (e.g. ACS, Shelby, QuickBooks for Nonprofits)
Other Job Information
- Monthly Salary is $2300, paid semimonthly
- Up to eight paid holidays per year
- Start time for the position is as soon as practical
- Candidate must agree to and pass a background check
- The current Business Administrator will provide training on the current procedures
- The church office is open Monday through Thursday of each week
- There is schedule flexibility on which days the job is performed when the office is open
- The schedule is negotiable with the Pastor
- Expected to attend weekly staff meetings
- Once a year there is a financial review and the Business Administrator needs to be available for questions during that financial review process.

Pay: $27,000.00 - $27,600.00 per year
