About the Opportunity
Chelsea Piers Connecticut is seeking a motivated, dependable, and passionate Full-Time Competitive & Recreational Gymnastics Coach to join our growing program.
This dual-role position combines coaching within our competitive team program with leading preschool and recreational classes. The ideal candidate brings strong technical gymnastics knowledge, an athlete-first coaching approach, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to safety, development, and creating an outstanding experience for athletes and families.
Schedule: Full-time (approximately 35 - 40 hours per week), in-person at Chelsea Piers in Stamford, CT. Requires weekend and evening hours.
Compensation: $50,000 - $55,000 per year, exempt from overtime
Primary Responsibilities
General Expectations

Create and contribute to a positive gym culture

Physical demands: ability to safely spot athletes of various sizes and ability to stand and move for extended periods of time
Competitive Team Coaching
-
USAG Xcel and Developmental levels
-
Attend all scheduled practices and competitions
- Working knowledge of USAG competitive rules and policies

Develops and implements lesson plans consistent with program objectives
Preschool & Recreational Coaching

Class Instruction: Lead engaging, high-energy preschool and foundational recreational gymnastics classes.

Curriculum Delivery: Implement age-appropriate lesson plans focusing on motor skills, coordination, and a love for fitness.

Retention: Build strong rapport with students and parents to encourage program retention and advancement.
Equipment & Facility Maintenance

Safety Inspections: Conduct daily and weekly safety checks on all gym apparatus (bars, beams, vaults, floors, pits).

Mat Management: Tighten cables, adjust equipment settings, and report any wear or tear immediately.

Cleanliness: Maintain industry-standard cleanliness and sanitation of training areas, mats, and chalk stations.
Professionalism & Safety Best Practices

Safety First: Strictly adhere to USA Gymnastics (USAG) and SafeSport safety guidelines and athlete welfare policies.

Reliability: Maintain excellent attendance, punctuality, and a professional demeanor

Spot and set up appropriate stations and drills for appropriate skill development

Strong communication with colleagues and families
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 - 4 years of experience coaching competitive Gymnastics (Xcel and/or USAG Development Program)

Certifications: Active USAG Professional Membership, SafeSport certification or willingness to obtain upon hire

Ability to stand and move for long periods of time
- Ability to spot youth gymnasts of all sizes and ability
