Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our coaching staff as an Oakville Flag/Assistant Football Coach for the 2026/2027 season. This seasonal position is based at Oakville Middle School/High School and is ideal for someone passionate about youth sports and committed to fostering a positive, inclusive, and competitive environment for student-athletes. The assistant coach will work closely with the head coach to develop players’ skills, promote teamwork, and ensure a safe and engaging experience for all participants.
Responsibilities
- Assist the head coach in planning and conducting practices, drills, and game strategies.
- Support the development of players’ fundamental skills and overall understanding of the game.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to student-athletes, promoting sportsmanship and teamwork.
- Help organize and supervise team events, including games, practices, and community outreach activities.
- Monitor player attendance, performance, and conduct, maintaining open communication with athletes and their families.
- Collaborate with coaching staff to evaluate team performance and make necessary adjustments to training and game strategies.
- Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and regulations, promoting a safe playing environment.
- Assist in the management of equipment and facilities, ensuring they are maintained and ready for use.
- Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes respect, effort, and personal growth.
Requirements
- Previous coaching experience in football or a related sport, preferred.
- Strong knowledge of football fundamentals, strategies, and rules.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other coaches, staff, and parents.
- Commitment to promoting inclusivity, diversity, and sportsmanship within the team.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred; willingness to obtain if not currently certified.
- Must pass a background check and meet all district requirements for coaching staff.
- Availability to attend practices, games, and team events, including evenings and weekends during the season.
