Location: Dixon / Rockford area
Schedule: Monday–Friday, day shift (9–5 or 10–6). Overtime opportunities available.
Occasional Saturday as needed and mutually agreed upon ahead of time.
What this job actually is
We keep a busy waste fleet on the road, and we need someone in the shop handling the day-to-day maintenance that keeps it that way.
This is mostly PM work — oil changes, filters, fluids, greasing, tire checks, and inspections. Basic repairs as they come up. If you can diagnose bigger problems, that's a real plus and will be reflected in your compensation, but it's not needed for what we're hiring for. We're looking for someone reliable who takes care of equipment and does clean, consistent work.
Normal hours, straight 40 hrs weekly if desired, with overtime opportunities.
The fleet you'll work on
- Front load, side load, and rear load garbage trucks
- Roll-off trucks
- Trailers and compactors
- Hydraulic and PTO systems
- Truck electrical systems

What you'll be doing day to day
- Running scheduled PMs — oil, filters, fluids, greasing
- Tire checks, brake checks, lights, and general inspections
- Basic repairs and getting trucks back in service
- Keeping trucks DOT inspection-ready and flagging problems early
- Filling out work orders and keeping maintenance records straight
- Helping diagnose hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical issues when they come up
What we're looking for
Required:
- Hands-on mechanical experience — diesel, automotive, or equipment
- Willingness to learn and take care of the equipment
- Valid driver's license
- Show up on time and do clean, dependable work
A plus, but not required:
- Diesel diagnostic experience
- Hydraulic or electrical troubleshooting
- Waste industry experience
- CDL, or willingness to get one
- Welding and fabrication
