Summary
Stafford Mechanical Services is looking to grow our team with a talented, hardworking, and motivated Licensed Heating & Oil Burner Tech for residential and light commercial service work. Gas and Propane experience is a plus.
As a Service Technician at Stafford Mechanical, you’ll be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing residential heating systems including oil-fired warm air furnaces and boilers, however you will also have exposure to ductless split heat pumps, split system air conditioning systems & package HVAC units. You’ll work independently in the field while collaborating with our well-trained, experienced service team to deliver excellent work and clear, respectful communication with our customers. This position also offers growth into servicing more advanced and specialized systems over time, with ongoing training opportunities and access to manufacturer-authorized classes.
What You’ll Do:
- Maintain, service, and repair Heating Systems & Oil Burners in residential and light commercial settings
- Diagnose and troubleshoot system issues related to heating systems.
- Perform routine maintenance and system inspections
- Clearly communicate service needs and recommendations to clients
- Accurately document all findings, work performed, and materials used
- Ensure all work is completed to code and in line with company standards
- Participate in training sessions and factory-authorized classes as needed
- Coordinate with appropriate team members to ensure jobs run smoothly
- Uphold the high-quality standards that Stafford Mechanical is widely known for
Responsibilities
- Maintenance & Repairs
- Service residential & light commercial Heating systems, furnaces, and boilers
Customer Service
- Communicate professionally and clearly with customers
- Provide detailed explanations of service work and recommendations
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain clear and accurate service records
- Follow OSHA, safety protocols, and manufacturer guidelines
- Ensure all repairs and maintenance are completed to local code and high professional standards.
Requirements
- 2–3+ years of Oil Burner & Heating service experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of residential heating systems, including oil/gas boilers, furnaces, split systems, and ductless heat pumps
- Ability to read electrical schematics and troubleshoot controls
- Experience with routine maintenance, service diagnostics, and repairs
- EPA certification
- Valid driver’s license required
- CT Heating/Cooling D, B or S-license.
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Familiarity with Service Titan, or other trades software is a beneficial but not required (training will be provided to those that are new to the technology)
