Overview
The Ready Mix Lab and Field Technician is responsible for supporting the quality and consistency of ready-mix concrete through laboratory testing, material sampling, equipment maintenance, documentation, and production quality monitoring. This position will primarily be based in the Quality Control Lab at the Ready Mix Plant and will work closely with the Quality Control/Quality Assurance Manager, batch personnel, dispatch, and plant operations.
The Ready Mix Lab and Field Technician will perform routine testing of aggregates, concrete, and other materials; maintain accurate quality records; monitor testing equipment; and help identify trends or issues that may impact concrete performance. Limited field testing or jobsite support may be required as needed.

EXECUTION
- Perform routine laboratory testing of concrete, aggregates, and raw materials in accordance with company procedures, project specifications, and applicable ASTM and ACI standards.
- Collect daily aggregate samples and perform moisture testing to support accurate batch adjustments and concrete production.
- Record aggregate moisture results and communicate necessary adjustments to batch and production personnel.
- Obtain and test fresh concrete samples, including slump, air content, temperature, unit weight, yield, and other required quality-control testing.
- Perform sieve analysis, specific gravity, absorption, and other aggregate testing as required.
- Prepare, label, store, and maintain concrete cylinders and other specimens in accordance with standard curing and testing procedures.
- Maintain the QC laboratory, curing areas, testing equipment, samples, and workspaces in a clean, organized, and professional condition.
- Ensure all laboratory and field testing equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, certified, and functioning within required performance standards.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all testing, samples, test results, mix designs, material information, and quality-control activities.
- Enter and organize laboratory and quality-control data to assist with monitoring concrete performance and identifying trends.
- Assist the Quality Control/Quality Assurance Manager with evaluation of concrete mix performance and potential adjustments to materials, admixtures, or production processes.
- Monitor aggregate and concrete material conditions and promptly communicate unusual or out-of-specification results.
- Assist with inventory and organization of laboratory supplies, testing materials, admixtures, and equipment.
- Maintain required testing schedules for aggregates, concrete, equipment calibration, and other quality-control procedures.
- Support field testing and jobsite quality-control activities when necessary.
- Follow all company safety procedures and maintain a safe laboratory and plant working environment.

- Communicate daily testing results and material conditions with batch personnel, dispatch, plant management, and other appropriate team members.
- Promptly report abnormal, inconsistent, or out-of-specification test results to the Quality Control/Quality Assurance Manager.
- Maintain clear, accurate, and organized laboratory records so quality information can be easily reviewed and tracked.
- Maintain positive and professional working relationships with all Beran Concrete team members, customers, suppliers, and third-party testing agencies.
- Assist production personnel in understanding quality-control requirements and proper concrete testing procedures when needed.
- Collaborate with plant operations to identify and resolve material or production issues that may impact concrete consistency or performance.
