Journalism Intern — Social Media & News (Remote)
Fintech Startup | Work From Home | Part-Time
We're a pre-launch startup building a new platform for financial news and market information. We're still under wraps ahead of a major launch — and we're looking for a Journalism Intern to handle our news coverage and our presence across X, Reddit, and TikTok.
What you'll do:
- Handle our news coverage
- Manage our presence on X (primary/heaviest focus), Reddit, and TikTok (in that priority order)
Schedule:
- Approximately 18 hours/week, Monday–Friday
- 7:30–9:00 AM: gather top market news (companies, earnings, government, oil, AI, IPOs) and schedule posts through market open
- 2:00–4:00 PM: same process for market close, plus availability for anything breaking, plus Reddit/TikTok content
What you'll get:
- Real, published work and portfolio-ready samples on a soon-to-launch platform
- Direct mentorship from an industry veteran
- $300/week
- Fully remote — must be based in the Chicago area for occasional in-person meetings
- Ground-floor experience at a startup before public launch (details shared upon interview)
Who we're looking for:
- Journalism, finance, communications, or related field — student or recent grad
- Active and fluent in X, Reddit, and TikTok culture (X experience especially valued)
- Interest in markets, trading, or financial news (no professional experience required)
- Self-starter who can work independently and communicate proactively
- Comfortable with a fast-paced, real-time news environment
To apply, send a brief note on why you're interested, your resume, along with any writing/social samples you have.
Pay: $300.00 per week
Benefits:
Work Location: Remote
