Little Paws Learning Center is seeking a dedicated and nurturing Early Childhood Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate is passionate about working with young children and committed to creating a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment.
Responsibilities
Classroom & Curriculum
- Implement the provided curriculum with fidelity in accordance with center expectations
- Plan, supervise, and carry out daily activities based on the established curriculum
- Prepare and submit weekly lesson plans
- Foster children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development
- Maintain a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment
- Conduct daily activities that meet the needs of all children
- Maintain accurate records and files for each child
Communication
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all children, families, and staff information
- Communicate effectively and positively with parents as needed
- Collaborate with assistants and volunteers to prepare materials and activities
- Attend and participate in staff meetings, trainings, and center events
- Document children’s behavior when necessary
Health & Safety
- Ensure the overall well-being of children at all times
- Monitor and respond appropriately to children’s needs
- Oversee classroom safety (indoor and outdoor)
- Assist with daily care routines (toileting, diapering, meals, rest time, dressing)
- Record daily care activities in Brightwheel
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of classroom materials
Additional Duties
- Assist the Director with other duties as needed
- Fill in for other staff when necessary
- Report maintenance or repair needs
- Notify administration of any unusual incidents or concerns
Qualifications
- Required: Child Development Certificate (CDC) or Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education
- Required: Prior classroom experience in an early childhood setting
- Must obtain all State-mandated training within 3 months of hire
- Knowledge of age-appropriate practices and positive discipline techniques
- Understanding of State childcare regulations
- Familiarity with the NM FOCUS program and its requirements is required
- Ability to lift and carry children and engage at floor level
Training Requirements
- Complete a minimum of 24 hours of training annually (for employees working 20+ hours/week)
- CPR and First Aid certification required
- Maintain training records through NMELS, Quorum, and the NM ECECD PDIS system
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry children
- Ability to sit, kneel, and interact with children at floor level
- Active participation in classroom and outdoor activities+
