JOB SUMMARY:
Performs tasks involving physical labor, assembles metal products on shop floor, and operate a variety of hand and power tools.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Assemble structures with bolts using the correct procedure.
- Removes small quantities of metal with hand files and scrapers to product close fit between parts.
- Report defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
- Operate the crane to move material.
- Operate grinders and other power tools to prep material for welding.
- Touch up galvanizing defects and sharp edges.
- Drill holes in products per specifications.
- Sweep areas to keep the shop clean.
- Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Ability to maintain quality, safety, and control standards.
- Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements.
- Ability to sort, check, count, and verify numbers.
- Ability to receive, track, and distribute materials, supplies, and equipment.
- Ability to perform simple arithmetic.
- Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Successful candidate must submit to post offer, pre-employment physical examination/medical history check.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
- Work involves moderate to heavy exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
- Moderate to heavy physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 50 pounds.
- Work environment involves exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require strict understanding and adherence to safety precautions.
