Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures including general dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
- Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment following strict infection prevention management and aseptic techniques.
- Take and develop dental X-rays, including digital imaging and 3D scans, ensuring accurate positioning and patient safety.
- X-Ray certification desired
- Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Provide chairside assistance by handing instruments, managing suction devices, and supporting four-handed dentistry techniques to improve efficiency.
- Educate patients on oral health care practices, post-treatment instructions, and preventive measures to promote long-term dental health.
- Maintain clinical confidentiality policies while handling medical documentation, coding procedures accurately for billing purposes.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with knowledge of dental terminology, dental equipment, and clinical procedures.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic; experience with patient management software is highly preferred.
- Certification in dental assisting or relevant coursework; additional training in X-ray certification and infection control is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology related to dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatrics.
- Knowledge of dental sterilization procedures, infection prevention management, and aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety.
- Ability to perform vital signs assessment and assist with medical imaging procedures confidently.
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate with patients as a dental receptionist when needed and provide compassionate patient care.
