Public Works Director
ABOUT THE POSITION: The City of Susanville’s Public Works Department
strives to be a recognized leader in the delivery of public services; known for our
responsiveness, reliability, good stewardship of fiscal and human resources, and
caring attention given to every single person they encounter. Under the general
direction of the City Manager, the Public Works Director is the administrative
head of the Public Works Department.
The Public Work Director plans, organizes, directs and reviews the activities and
operations of the Public Works Department and oversees the Streets Division;
Water and Geothermal Division; Natural Gas Division; Parks and Facilities
Division; Building and Planning Division; Public Works Administrative and
Engineering Division; and serves as the administrative staff to boards such as the
Susanville Municipal Airport Commission, Regional Water Management Group,
and the Lassen County Transportation Commission. The Public Works Director
coordinates assigned activities with other departments and outside agencies and is
the ex officio superintendent of streets. The Public Works Director is an at-will
position and is represented by a negotiated at-will employment agreement with
the City of Susanville.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications:
Six (6) years of increasingly responsible experience in public works
administration, including two (2) years of significant administrative
managerial experience working in a public agency.
Possession of a four (4) year degree from an accredited college or university
in public administration, business, engineering and/or related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
Licensed as a Civil Engineer in California.
Required Licenses/Certificates:
Possession of or ability to obtain and maintain a California Driver’s Class C
License
