Overview
We are looking for a Certified Medical assistant (CMA) who is dedicated, go-getter and truly care about their patients. The ideal candidate will be bilingual (English and preferably Spanish), adept at navigating medical environments, and possess a strong understanding of prior authorizations, prescription refills, and electronic health record (EHR) systems. This role is critical in supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care within our practice. The Certified Medical Assistant will assist healthcare professionals in various tasks, ensuring that patients receive the best possible care during their visits.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in patient intake, including taking vital signs and medical histories.
- Performing administrative tasks, including scheduling appointments and procedures.
- Checking patients in for their appointments and also checking them out.
- Support the overall workflow of the medical office and maintain patient charts.
- Facilitate the processing and submission of prior authorizations for medications.
- Manage and coordinate prescription refill requests, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in communication with providers and pharmacies.
- Experience in FMLA is big plus.
- Support healthcare providers during examinations/in office procedures by providing necessary support.
- Document patient encounters and medical information accurately using electronic health systems, ensuring compliance with healthcare and HIPPA regulations.
- Educate patients on treatment plans, medications, and follow-up care instructions.
Qualifications
- Certified medical assistant
- Bilingual proficiency (English and Spanish).
- Prior experience working in medical office settings, such as clinics, hospitals, or outpatient centers.
- Demonstrated knowledge and hands-on experience with prior authorization processes, prescription refills and preferably FMLA.
- Familiarity with electronic health systems ( experience with eClinicalworks is a plus).
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask efficiently.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a patient-centered approach.
- Ability to adapt to a team-oriented, collaborative work environment.
