The Senior Test Engineering Technician is responsible for the design, development, validation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of electronic production test solutions within a regulated EMS manufacturing environment supporting Medical Device, Aerospace & Defense, and Industrial customers.
This hybrid role combines hands-on test system execution and floor support, test architecture development and validation ownership, regulatory documentation discipline, and root cause leadership for test-related quality issues.
The position serves as the site-level technical authority for production test while remaining actively engaged in daily test operations.
Must be eligible to work in compliance with U.S. ITAR regulations, including access to export-controlled information.
Core Responsibilities
- Test Architecture & Development
- Develop and improve functional test (FCT), ICT, Flying Probe, and system-level test solutions.
- Define test coverage requirements in collaboration with Engineering and Quality.
- Participate in DFM/DFT reviews during NPI.
- Assist in fixture design and electrical interface development.
- Develop or modify test software (LabVIEW, TestStand, Python, or equivalent).
Production Test Ownership
- Provide real-time support for production test failures.
- Troubleshoot digital and analog circuits, power systems, communication interfaces, and fixture hardware.
- Differentiate product failure versus test system false failure.
- Reduce retest and false failure rates.
- Monitor test performance metrics (FPY, retest %, downtime).
Regulatory & Validation Responsibility
- Author and maintain test procedures, setup documentation, preventive maintenance records, and calibration tracking.
- Support or lead IQ/OQ/PQ (where applicable) and Measurement System Analysis (MSA, GR&R).
- Support AS9102 FAI test documentation inputs.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 13485, ISO 9001, AS9100, and customer-specific regulatory requirements.
- Support internal and external audits.
Change Control & Risk Management
- Evaluate ECO impact on test systems.
- Implement controlled revisions to test hardware and software.
- Support deviation investigations.
- Participate in RCCA using structured methodologies (5-Why, Fishbone, Fault Tree).
Continuous Improvement & Yield Enhancement
- Drive improvements in First Pass Yield, test cycle time, fixture reliability, and test uptime.
- Identify automation opportunities with ROI mindset.
- Support Lean manufacturing initiatives.
Data & Traceability
- Ensure test data integrity and retention.
- Support traceability requirements for regulated programs.
- Assist in test data analysis for trend monitoring.
- Support CUI-sensitive environments where applicable.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Electronics, Mechatronics, Engineering Technology OR Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field OR equivalent military/industry experience.
- 4–8+ years of experience in electronics manufacturing test environment.
- Strong troubleshooting skills (analog and digital).
- Ability to read schematics and interpret specifications.

- Experience with LabVIEW, TestStand, Boundary Scan, NI or Keysight platforms.
- IPC certification.
- Experience in Medical or Aerospace & Defense electronics.
