POSITION: Substitute Teacher
Evanston Township High School, Dist. #202 is looking for energetic and motivated substitute
teachers to work with students, Grades 9-12. The substitute teacher is responsible for carrying
out the lesson plans of the teacher for whom he/she is substituting and meeting the duties of
teaching as outlined in ETHS policies. We have opportunities for the right candidates. Our
system for accepting assignments is web-based. There is also an App that you are able to
download on your cell phone for immediate access when assignments open up.
Successful candidates will have to undergo a fingerprint based background check at our
expense.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree
Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) or Illinois Substitute Teacher License
Knowledge of Microsoft Office
Knowledge of Google Apps
Knowledge of Absence Management, formerly AESOP or similar software
Strong command of the English language
Above-average competency in at least two subject areas; overall average competency in
most or all subjects
Flexible, friendly and good at establishing quick rapport with students
Experience working with high school students preferred
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Following the lesson plan left by the teacher
2. Meeting and instructing assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated
3. Establishing and maintaining order in the classroom conducive to effective learning
4. Assisting in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations and School
Board Policies
5. Cooperating with school personnel
6. Establishing and maintaining cooperative relations with other employees
7. Reporting to the Substitute Coordinator at the beginning of each school day
