Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Part-Time or Full-Time Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, providing exceptional customer service while managing a variety of administrative tasks. Duties
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a positive first impression and providing clear directions within the clinic.
- Schedule appointments using electronic health record (EHR) systems (eClinical Works) maintaining an organized calendar.
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and handle insurance verification processes with health insurance providers.
- Collect patient information accurately, review medical documentation, and update electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems) with precision.
- Manage multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette, addressing patient inquiries and routing calls efficiently.
- Assist with medical billing and collections by processing payments, submitting claims, and following up on outstanding balances using medical collection procedures.
- Maintain the confidentiality of all patient records in accordance with HIPAA regulations and clinic policies while managing medical record filing and electronic health record management.
- Support clinical staff by coordinating appointment scheduling, patient intake, and documentation review to ensure seamless clinic operations.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical administrative support role within a clinical setting.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of health insurance processes, including insurance verification, Medicare procedures, CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, and medical billing practices.
- Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) for documentation and office management tasks.
- Exceptional customer service skills combined with effective phone communication and phone etiquette abilities.
- Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially in compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies.
- Bilingual skills are a plus to assist diverse patient populations effectively.
- Strong organizational skills with experience in medical scheduling, filing, data entry (including 10 key typing), and office management.
- Knowledge of dental terminology or dental office experience is advantageous for clinics specializing in dental care.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certification in medical administration or related fields is preferred.
