The Laboratory Technician is responsible for the preparation, analysis, and quality control of environmental samples for organics parameters in accordance with NELCA, EPA, SW-846, and state regulatory methods. This role supports high-throughput production while maintaining strict adherence to SOPs, QA/QC requirements, and turnaround-time commitments.
This role is for the Organics department.
Organics
- Prepare soil, water, and waste samples for organic analysis.
- Operate and maintain organic instrumentation such as: GC-MS, GC-MS Purge & Trap, and GC-FID
- Prepare calibration standards, surrogates, internal standards, blanks, and QC samples.
- Execute analyses under methods such as 8260, 8270, 8015, and related protocols.
- Conduct routine instrument maintenance, tuning, and troubleshooting.
- Evaluate chromatographic data for accuracy, completeness, and QC compliance.
- Accurately enter results and data into the LIMS.
- Follow all Chemical Hygiene Plan, safety, and waste-handling procedures.
- Meet production deadlines while maintaining data integrity and quality.
Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, or related field (or equivalent laboratory experience).
- Familiarity with GC-based analytical techniques and organic sample preparation.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow SOPs and regulatory methods precisely.
- Comfort working with solvents and in a high-throughput lab environment.
- Basic computer proficiency (LIMS, Excel, data entry).
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods.
