Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Construction Estimator to produce accurate, timely cost estimates for residential, commercial, and/or civil projects. The Estimator will analyze drawings and specifications, gather subcontractor and supplier pricing, and prepare competitive bids and budgets that support project success and profitability. This role requires strong construction knowledge, estimating software proficiency, and the ability to collaborate with project managers and field teams to refine scopes and control costs.
Key Responsibilities

Review project drawings, specifications, and addenda to develop comprehensive scopes of work and quantity takeoffs.

Prepare detailed cost estimates, bid packages, and budgets including materials, labor, equipment, subcontractor quotes, overhead, and profit.

Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers, negotiate pricing, and verify availability and lead times.

Maintain and update historical cost databases, unit pricing, and cost models to improve estimate accuracy over time.

Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and design teams to clarify scope, identify value engineering opportunities, and mitigate risks.

Develop and present clear, professional estimate summaries and bid proposals to stakeholders and clients.

Perform constructability reviews and site visits as needed to validate assumptions and identify site-specific costs or constraints.

Monitor competitive landscape and market pricing trends for labor, materials, and equipment to inform bid strategies and contingency planning.

Support post-bid activities including bid reconciliation, change order pricing, and final subcontractor buyouts.

Ensure all estimates comply with company policies, contract requirements, and safety/regulatory standards.
Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field, or equivalent experience.

3+ years of estimating experience in construction (residential, commercial, or civil) with a proven track record of successful bids and cost control.

Proficient with estimating and takeoff software (e.g., PlanSwift, Bluebeam, Procore, Sage Estimating) and MS Office (Excel required).

Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, scheduling, and site operations.

Excellent numerical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to develop accurate quantity takeoffs and cost breakdowns.

Effective written and verbal communication skills with experience preparing professional proposals and presenting estimates.

Demonstrated negotiation skills and experience managing subcontractor/supplier relationships.

Ability to prioritize multiple projects, meet tight deadlines, and work both independently and collaboratively with project teams.

Certifications such as Certified Professional Estimator (CEA) or Associate Constructor (AC) are a plus; OSHA safety training or similar preferred.
