Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Electric Pallet Jack, Reach Truck, and Cherry Picker Operator to join our dynamic warehouse team. In this role, you will be responsible for efficiently handling materials, managing inventory movement, and supporting warehouse operations through the safe operation of various powered equipment. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, experience with warehouse management systems, and a commitment to maintaining safety standards in a fast-paced distribution environment. Responsibilities
- Operate electric pallet jacks, reach trucks, cherry pickers, Hi-Lo forklifts, clamp trucks, and other heavy equipment safely and efficiently to load, unload, and transport materials within the warehouse.
- Perform order picking accurately using various equipment types, ensuring correct items are selected for shipping or inventory updates.
- Assist with shipping and receiving processes by verifying incoming shipments and preparing outgoing orders in accordance with company procedures.
- Conduct routine equipment inspections and minor repairs to maintain optimal operation; report any mechanical issues promptly.
- Support warehouse management system (WMS) data entry by updating inventory levels and order statuses accurately.
- Adhere strictly to OSHA safety standards and internal safety protocols during all operations to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Participate in manual handling tasks involving heavy lifting and materials handling while following proper techniques.
- Collaborate with warehouse supervisors to optimize storage layouts and improve overall distribution efficiency.
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace to promote safety and operational excellence.
Requirements
- Proven experience operating electric pallet jacks, reach trucks, cherry pickers, or similar heavy equipment within a warehouse or distribution setting.
- Strong understanding of warehouse management systems (WMS) and order picker technology.
- Knowledge of safety standards in production environments, including OSHA regulations related to forklift operation and manual handling.
- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic equipment repairs or troubleshooting as needed.
- Familiarity with warehouse procedures such as load & unload operations, shipping & receiving, and inventory management.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently; physical stamina required for manual handling tasks.
- Basic math skills for counting, measuring, and verifying quantities accurately.
- Prior experience in warehouse supervision or materials handling roles is advantageous.
- Excellent attention to detail combined with strong communication skills.
- Valid certification for forklift operation (e.g., OSHA-compliant lift truck license) is preferred.
