Summary:
Schedule: This will be a 10-month contract, with day/evening shift hours.

The Sports Performance Coach is responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring evidence-based strength and conditioning programs for athletes across multiple sports. This unique role operates within a Sports Medicine framework, requiring seamless collaboration with athletic trainers, team physicians, coaches, EMS personnel, and administrative staff. The coach will support athlete health, performance optimization, injury prevention, and return play processes using best practices in sports science and performance training. Primary work location: Alvernia University.
Responsibilities:

Develop and deliver comprehensive strength, conditioning, speed, agility, and mobility programs tailored to each sport and individual athlete's needs.

Conduct movement assessments, performance testing, and ongoing monitoring to guide program adjustments.

Implement periodized training plans aligned with competitive schedules, academic demands, and recovery needs.

Provide hands-on coaching during team training sessions, small group workouts, and individualized sessions.

Work closely with the Sports Medicine practice clinicians and healthcare team to ensure continuity of care and alignment with medical recommendations.

Coordinate daily with athletic trainers and coaches to integrate performance goals with sport-specific demands.

Participate in interdisciplinary meetings regarding athlete health, performance status, and return-to-play progression.

Maintain documentation of training loads, attendance, and athlete progress.

Assist in designing and executing and implementing injury prevention strategies, including corrective exercise, mobility programs, and load management plans.

Assist in designing and executing return-to-play protocols in collaboration with medical staff.

Monitor athlete readiness and recovery using appropriate tools

Educate athletes on proper lifting techniques, recovery strategies, and performance habits.

Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and high performance.

Provide mentorship and guidance to student-athletes regarding long-term athletic development.

Ensure all training activities comply with NCAA, conference, and university regulations.

Maintain professional certifications and continuing education requirements.

Assist with facility scheduling, equipment maintenance, and inventory management.

Contribute to data tracking, reporting, and performance analytics.

Occasional meetings or training sessions at the Sports Medicine practice(s). Early mornings, evenings, and weekend hours required based on team schedules. Travel may be required for select competitions or training camps
Credentials:
Education or Equivalent Experience:

Bachelor of Arts or Science (Required)

Education Specialization: Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Strength & Conditioning, or related field.Equivalent Experience:•3+ years Experience coaching collegiate or high-level athletes

Education Specialization: Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Strength & Conditioning, or related field.Equivalent Experience:•Experience working within a Sports Medicine or multidisciplinary performance model•Familiarity with sports science technology (GPS, force plates, athlete management systems).•Experience designing return-to-play or post-rehabilitation training programs
