Duties
- Review and interpret detailed construction drawings, electrical schematics, and blueprints to develop precise estimates for electrical systems and components.
- Prepare comprehensive cost estimates by analyzing material costs, labor hours, equipment needs, and subcontractor quotes using advanced estimating software such as HeavyBid or equivalent tools.
- Conduct thorough review of construction documents to ensure compliance with NEC (National Electrical Code), NFPA 70 standards, and local electrical building codes.
- Collaborate with project managers, clients, and contractors through effective negotiation to establish accurate budgets and scope of work.
- Manage material cost estimating and pricing strategies to optimize project profitability while maintaining competitive bids.
- Oversee the review of construction drawings for electrical system integration and identify potential design conflicts or constructability issues early in the process.
- Monitor project budgets throughout the bidding phase and during construction to ensure adherence to cost control measures and identify areas for potential savings.
- Utilize Bluebeam for digital markup and review of plans, ensuring all project details are accurately captured and communicated.
- Lead efforts in contract review, scope clarification, and risk assessment related to electrical estimating activities.
- Maintain detailed records of estimates, bid proposals, client communications, and project documentation for future reference.
Skills
- Extensive experience with electrical estimating including material takeoffs, cost management, and bid preparation within the construction industry.
- Proficiency in estimating software such as HeavyBid or similar platforms is essential for accurate project costing.
- Strong knowledge of NEC (National Electrical Code), NFPA 70 standards, electrical building codes, and industry best practices.
- Skilled in reading and interpreting electrical blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings to accurately assess project requirements.
- Excellent negotiation skills to effectively communicate with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Expertise in using Bluebeam for digital plan review and markup processes.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) for documentation and communication purposes.
- Demonstrated ability in cost control, budget estimation, and managing large-scale electrical projects from inception through completion.
- Construction site experience coupled with a strong understanding of construction management principles enhances your ability to deliver precise estimates aligned with project realities.
- Effective client communication skills that foster trust and clarity throughout the bidding process.
