Backstage Café Supervisor (Barista + Operations)
Backstage Café at Gym U by David Barton is a small startup poised for growth. We are looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented Café Supervisor who can run both the Cafe and the backend.
This is not a desk job. You’ll be on the floor - making smoothies, serving coffee, and creating a seamless experience for our members - while also taking ownership of key operational responsibilities behind the scenes.
We’re looking for a strong barista with administrative skills - someone who understands service, but also knows how to organize, improve, and grow a Café operation. There is an opportunity to grow into a Café Manager position as the café expands. Prior supervisory or management experience is REQUIRED.
What You’ll Do
On the Floor (Primary Focus)
- Prepare smoothies, coffee, and café items to brand standards
- Deliver fast, elevated, and consistent service
- Maintain a clean, organized, and visually perfect café environment
- Engage with members and enhance the overall Gym U experience
Operations & Admin (A Few Hours Weekly)
- Assist with menu updates and product development
- Oversee inventory control, including stock ordering, storage, and waste reduction
- Handle cash transactions accurately using POS systems such as Aloha POS and Micros POS
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain cleanliness standards across all areas
- Coordinate shift schedules, monitor staff performance, and assist with interviewing and onboarding new team members
Who You Are
- Strong barista experience (coffee + smoothies preferred)
- Organized, detail-oriented, and proactive
- Comfortable with inventory, ordering, and basic admin tasks
- Natural sense of ownership - you don’t wait to be told
- Interested in growing into a larger role over time
