Astra Foods is an elite cheese steak preferred manufacturer providing the finest quality beef and chicken products. We are seeking a Maintenance Assistant for our Aston location.
Overview
The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving equipment and facility systems within a meat processing plant. This position helps ensure production equipment, refrigeration systems, utilities, and plant infrastructure operate safely and efficiently while maintaining compliance with food safety, OSHA, USDA, and company standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance on processing equipment, conveyors, packaging machines, grinders, slicers, and facility systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and plumbing issues.
- Maintain refrigeration systems, boilers, air compressors, and water systems as assigned.
- Responsible for the maintenance and care of the facility's end grounds
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance areas and tools.
- Work closely with production and sanitation teams to support plant operations.
Experience
- Entry Level
- High school diploma or GED required
- Previous industrial maintenance experience, preferably in food or meat processing environments
- Knowledge of electrical systems, motors, conveyors, welding, plumbing, hydraulics, and pneumatics
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Work Environment:
- Meat processing/manufacturing facility with exposure to cold temperatures, moisture, noise, and food production environments.
- Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
