Duties
- Safely operate your tractor-trailer, including flatbed, refrigerated trailer, tanker, or dump truck configurations, adhering to all FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations
- Plan and follow efficient routes using GPS navigation systems to optimize delivery times and fuel consumption
- Comply with hazardous materials regulations when transporting dangerous goods or hazardous materials
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, deliveries, and vehicle inspections in accordance with FMCSA regulations
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after trips to identify maintenance needs or safety issues
- Load, secure, and unload cargo such as freight, roll-off trucks, or other logistics cargo handling tasks with precision and care
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients to confirm delivery schedules and address any route or cargo concerns
- Ensure all deliveries are completed on time while maintaining a high standard of safety and professionalism
Qualifications
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including route driving with various types of trailers such as refrigerated, flatbed, tanker, or dump trucks
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with endorsements relevant to the type of vehicle operated
- Proficiency in manual transmission operation and manual handling techniques
- Familiarity with GPS navigation systems for route planning and real-time tracking
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT regulations, hazardous materials regulations, and dangerous goods handling procedures
- Experience with freight loading/unloading processes using forklifts or manual methods as needed
- Strong understanding of logistics cargo handling procedures and safety protocols
- Excellent driving record demonstrating safe driving habits over time
- Ability to manage time effectively to meet delivery deadlines in a fast-paced environment

An Owner Operator plays a critical role in ensuring efficient and timely transportation of freight on local and regional routes. Working closely with freight brokers, this role requires hands-on management of vehicle maintenance and load handling, combined with strong skills in route planning and compliance with safety regulations. The Owner Operator is responsible for transporting containers from rail yards to customers and efficiently completing delivery procedures using a mix of company and personal technology tools.
Responsibilities
- Plan and optimize routes for local and regional freight deliveries
- Perform regular vehicle maintenance and upkeep personally
- Manage load securement and container handling
- Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards
- Handle fuel management and cost control
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries and vehicle operations
- Pull containers out of rail yards and deliver to customers
- Terminate container status after delivery in the system
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in trucking or logistics
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
