The Assistant Operations Manager supports the daily operational activities of the fuel transportation division by ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant movement of petroleum products. This position assists with dispatch operations, fleet utilization, driver supervision, customer service, regulatory compliance, and continuous process improvement. The Transportation Assistant Operations Manager serves as a key resource for drivers, dispatchers, fleet managers, and customers while helping maintain exceptional service levels and operational excellence.
Operations Management
- Assist in managing daily transportation operations for multiple terminals and service locations.
- Support the coordination of fuel deliveries while maximizing equipment utilization and driver productivity.
- Monitor dispatch activities to ensure on-time deliveries and customer satisfaction.
- Resolve operational issues involving scheduling, equipment availability, delays, and customer concerns.
- Provide operational leadership during weekends, holidays, or after-hours as assigned.
Driver Support & Supervision
- Assist with supervising CDL drivers and dispatch personnel.
- Promote a culture focused on safety, professionalism, and regulatory compliance.
- Conduct driver coaching regarding performance, customer service, attendance, and policy adherence.
- Assist with onboarding and training of new drivers.
- Monitor Hours of Service (HOS) compliance and driver qualifications.
Fleet Coordination
- Work closely with Fleet Managers to maximize equipment availability.
- Coordinate preventative maintenance schedules to minimize operational downtime.
- Monitor vehicle inspections, repairs, and equipment readiness.
- Ensure tractors, trailers, and fuel delivery equipment meet DOT and company standards.
Safety & Compliance
- Promote compliance with:
- DOT/FMCSA regulations
- OSHA requirements
- Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR)
- Company safety policies
- Assist with accident investigations and corrective action plans.
- Review driver logs, DVIRs, electronic logging devices (ELDs), and safety reports.
- Participate in safety meetings and driver training initiatives.
Pay: $55,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
