JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
We are looking for an Operations Instructor to support trainings and development at one of the largest BWR plans in the United States.
This role is critical in preparing and qualifying nuclear plant operators through structured training programs, simulator instruction, and in-plant evaluations. The position plays a key role in maintaining operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and workforce readiness.
The ideal candidate should possess excellent communication skills, a passion for teaching, and experience with instructional design and e-learning.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follow SAT and ADDIE Processes
- Deliver training to operations personnel in classroom, simulator, and plant environments.
- Instruct and evaluate: Non-licensed operators, initial license candidates, and licened operators and shirt leadership.
- Develop and maintain training materials, including: lesson plans and curriculum, siulator scenarios, evaluation tools and job performance measures
- Support performance improvement initiatives and corrective action programs
- Assist with simulator fidelity and regulatory compliance (NRC / ANSI standards)
- Participate in:
- Emergency response organization (on-call)
- Refueling outage support
- Plant issue response
REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must meet one of the following:
- Bachelor’s degree (technical field) + 4+ years nuclear operations or training experience
- RO/SRO license or certification + high school diploma/GED + 6+ years relevant experience
- High school diploma/GED + 8+ years nuclear operations training experience
Additional qualifying experience:
- Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program experience (including instructional roles) may substitute for licensing requirements
Knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the position
Must have excellent verbal communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint. Must be disciplined, self motivated, and able to accomplish work on schedule with minimal oversight.
PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) certification (especially BWR)
- Prior Reactor Operator (RO) experience at Susquehanna
- 10+ years operations experience
- Classroom and simulator instruction experience
- Experience with regulatory exam development (NUREG-1021)
- INPO Instructor Certification
- Supervisory experience
- Familiarity with training and simulator systems (e.g., VISION®, L3M™)
