Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Doctor of Optometry to join our dynamic healthcare team. Duties
- Conduct thorough ophthalmic patient examinations, including visual acuity testing, tonometry, and assessment of ocular health using ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment.
- Diagnose and manage eye diseases such as glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, and other ocular conditions utilizing medical treatment knowledge and disease state management skills.
- Perform contact lens fitting and follow-up care to ensure optimal fit and comfort for patients.
- Operate medical equipment safely and accurately, including ophthalmic diagnostic imaging tools, tonometers, and other ophthalmic diagnostic devices.
- Document all patient interactions accurately within EMR (Electronic Medical Records) or EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems while maintaining HIPAA compliance to ensure patient confidentiality.
- Provide patient education on eye health, treatment options, contact lens care, and preventive measures through clear client communication.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals for comprehensive patient care, including ophthalmology consultations when necessary.
- Maintain a sterile environment using aseptic techniques during examinations and procedures to ensure patient safety.
Requirements
- Doctor of Optometry degree from an accredited program with active licensure or eligibility to practice in the relevant jurisdiction.
- Proven experience in ophthalmology or optometry practice with strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology related to eye health.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems for accurate medical records management.
- Hands-on experience with ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment such as slit lamps, tonometers, and other diagnostic tools.
- Familiarity with medical coding practices related to optometry services for billing purposes.
- Excellent client communication skills with a focus on customer service and education.
- Ability to operate medical equipment safely and efficiently while adhering to aseptic techniques.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure the confidentiality of patient information.
- Strong understanding of disease state management within optometry scope of practice.
- Experience in pediatrics is a plus for providing specialized care to younger patients.
